Turnitin will be undergoing essential maintenance and will be unavailable.
This is the Saturday before the first week of class.

On Saturday December 3, Turnitin will be unavailable from 10AM – 1PM EST due to necessary scheduled maintenance. This is the Saturday before the final week of class.
We advise that submission deadlines be set outside of this maintenance window.
This maintenance will be performed on internal network hardware to increase capacity and ensure continued dependable service to our customers.
Where applicable, please be aware no submissions or grading will be possible through any of the services listed above during this time.
From 5:50 PM last night (Nov 17, 2016) to 8:37 AM (Nov 18, 2016) students may have experienced issues making late submissions to Turnitin. Specifically, students making a late submission to a Turnitin assignment would incorrectly receive a message indicating that they have already made a submission into the assignment. Assignments submitted by the Turnitin Due Date were not affected by this issue.
Students who are not sure if their late assignments were submitted should contact their instructors to verify the status of their assignments. The IT Service Desk does not have the ability to verify submissions for students.

All papers uploaded into Turnitin are placed into the archive by default. If you are testing Turnitin Originality Report functionality, be sure that uploading documents into the archive will not adversely affect the original authors. You can also test the Originality Report in rough draft mode which allows instructors to view the Originality Report without adding papers to the permanent archive.
Note: Our license disallows instructors to scan their own papers intended for publication.
Instructors can delete documents from a course if a student needs to upload a new revision with no effect on Originality Report results
Documents can also be permanently deleted for the Turnitin archive, but the request will take several business days to process and must be sent to the IT Service Desk from the instructor with information about course and document number and other information upon request.
Turnitin will have a scheduled system maintenance closure on Sat Nov 5, 2016 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Eastern Time. This maintenance will be performed on internal network hardware to increase capacity and ensure continued dependable service to Turnitin customers.
We recommend that student deadlines not be set within this window.
Please note the following events are scheduled between Aug. 14 through Aug. 20. Service disruptions and changes are scheduled at these times.
Information Technology Services (ITS) will perform scheduled maintenance on Shibboleth during the Sunday (August 14) maintenance window. This will affect single sign on log in for Turnitin and other services such as VoiceThread and Lynda.com
These services will experience a very short service interruption (approximately one minute) between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Turnitin will have another scheduled system maintenance on Saturday August 20th from 10 AM to 2 PM Eastern Time. Please note that this is the Saturday before the first day of class on Aug 22. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Turnitin will have a scheduled system maintenance on Saturday August 6th from 7AM to 11AM Pacific Time (11-2 EDT). Due to the maintenance Turnitin may be temporarily unavailable during this time.
On Thursday 14 July, ETS e-rater® will be unavailable from 9am to 1pm EDT for scheduled maintenance. ETS e-rater® is a third-party element, with the downtime outside of Turnitin or Penn State’s control. ETS e-rater® will process all submissions with the e-rater® enabled once the maintenance period is over.
