Information Technology Services (ITS) announced July 1, 2013 that Penn State has renewed their contract with Turnitin, the web-based plagiarism detection and prevention system. Also, faculty, staff, and students can now find Turnitin at a new site at https://turnitin.psu.edu.

Along with the new site, the Penn State community will have access to two new services, GradeMark and PeerMark. GradeMark offers faculty an online, paperless option for grading student papers, including a way to add comments. PeerMark allows students to evaluate each other’s work so they can learn from their classmates via peer review.

“We are excited to be adding both the GradeMark and PeerMark tools to the Turnitin service. We hope that instructors and students will see Turnitin as a tool to develop student writing skills and not just as an enforcement tool” said Elizabeth Pyatt, Turnitin program lead and instructional designer with Teaching and Learning with Technology, a unit within ITS. More information about GradeMark and PeerMark can found at the Penn State Turnitin service site at https://turnitin.psu.edu/getstarted/newtools/.
